Music Presents:
Music of The World

Join us… for an exciting musical odyssey to the four corners of the earth, traveling the silk road and exploring the ancient cultures of China, India and Persia. We’ll experience the rich musical traditions of Africa, aboriginal music of Australia, renaissance of Europe, Native American music, gamelan (gong orchestra) of Indonesia, and the blues and jazz of the United States. We will examine how music ties into the society of these countries. World class musicians and educators demonstrate various traditional musical instruments. Our programs are interactive (show and tell). Participation includes singing folk songs and chants from different countries, and playing various percussion instruments from around the world, i.e. rain stick, maracas, frame drums and marimbas. Various ethnic instruments which are indigenous to Ireland, India, Ghana, Persia, and Australia, and South America are demonstrated. The program touches on other disciplines by incorporating geography, history, and sociology to music.

“I never seen an audience, third and fourth graders, more captivated. Their ability to give you the technical names of all of the instruments presented left me in a state of shock as I couldn’t remember all of them”. - Walter M. Boyler, Principal, South River Elementary School |
